About Kristen, Design Instructor and Mentor
Kristen Kator is currently an instructor for the UC Berkeley Extension UX Design program. She teachers students the essentials of user experience design and prepares them for a highly competitive UX job market. Aside from teaching, she mentors designers of all levels and disciplines, helping them navigate workforce situations, build interpersonal skills, and reach their career goals.
Kristen is a product design leader with over 20 years of experience designing for web, mobile, visual display, and multi-modal platforms. She has lived and worked all over the world for agencies, start-ups, and large corporations such as Samsung, Sony, and British Sky Broadcasting. She has led user experience design for many successful projects, including The Frame TV, Samsung Gaming Hub, and Sky Sports mobile coverage of the 2012 Olympics.
In all of her work, Kristen follows a user-centered, iterative design process of researching, building, testing, and refining product concepts. Kristen has led and managed design teams, mentoring each designer to develop their skills and career paths. When she’s not designing, Kristen can be found traveling, keeping up with her busy toddler, and advocating for women in the workplace.

Are you currently in the job market and need help with your resume? I’ve been a hiring manager for a number of years and understand what companies are looking for in a resume. I can provide direct feedback in a Google doc and also provide tips and suggestions to create a resume that will get you hired. To start the process, send me an email with a link to your resume. Service includes one document review and a follow up email, phone call, or Zoom meeting.

Design Job Mock Interview $100
Have you been interviewing for design jobs but can’t quite pass the finish line? Do you have a shiny portfolio but get nervous when it comes to sharing it with potential employers? No worries! Everyone can use a mock session to freshen up their interviewing skills. This session includes a 45 minute mock interview with 15 minutes of tips and feedback.
